Job Title: School Counselor

Years of service: 30

What will you miss about DHS: I will miss the camaraderie of my colleagues and all of the fun times we have had together.  I will miss my students, as I love the energy of teenagers and the kindness they have shown me over the years.  I love to help them with their future plans.  I will miss the wonderful secretaries we have in this building, as they are the hardest working people I know.  The list goes on as this has been a wonderful place to work and I have made lifelong friends who I will cherish in the future.

Advice to your replacement: Take everything a step at a time.  It takes a whole year to really get a system down that is right for you. This is a big school and there are many different cultural backgrounds which is what makes this job so interesting, but also challenging.  Listen more than talk and you will get their respect and be well loved for it.

Favorite DHS memory:  There are so many so it is hard to pinpoint one, but I would say the year they selected me to be one of the teachers dedicated in the yearbook.  I was a new counselor and it made me feel very special.  Also all of the times I have spent with my counselor friends during our many PD days.  That was when we had a chance to get together and enjoy each other’s company, which is hard to do during the school year.

Retirement plans: My husband and I will be traveling the USA to visit as many of the National Parks in our RV that we can.  I will also be going to the 3 Operas my son will be in at the Toledo Opera House.  I always enjoy his performances and it will be great to be able to spend time with him and his girlfriend

Any other thoughts: I hope to keep in touch with all my friends and I’ll be putting pictures up on Facebook for all to see, so I won’t feel that I am not around anymore.  You can’t get rid of me.  Love to all.

Cead mile failte.
