Sports update

  • Because of inclement weather, commencement exercises are postponed today to 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 20.
  • Attention girls interested in running Cross Country: Please stop by by B214 to see Coach Turek for information.
  • “Winner of Friday’s Civics Bowl competition was Mrs. Passarelli’s Period 3 Class “The Justice League.” Congratulations to all of our participants and classmates that worked to earn points this morning.
  • Spring yearbook supplements are in.Please visit Mr. Samaha in room D467 anytime for your spring supplement. Have your school ID ready.
  • Students who have medicine in the Nurse’s office are reminded to pick it up before the end of the school year.
  • Students taking AP classes next year:  Summer work is posted outside the main office and all of the level offices. It is newly updated today.
  • Get your yearbook before it’s too late; $90 cash in the main office, see Mrs Jakobson.
  • Important reminder: All parking fees and fines must be paid in full to the Safety Advocates  Office.
  • The School Based Health Center will be open summer hours at DHS — by the gym — to assist with Sports Physicals for three weeks starting July 31.  Stop by the SBHC to schedule your appointment or you may get additional information from your coaches.
  • Last call. Sculptures must be picked up in A209; work that is not picked up will be re-purposed.

Wednesday, June 14 : 11 a.m. Department Awards, by invitation; 1 p.m. graduation rehearsal

Thursday, June 15: Noon graduation rehearsal; Senior BBQ immediately following at football field

Friday, June 16:  8:30 a.m. graduation rehearsal

Monday, June 19: 5 p.m., Commencement exercise of Class of 2017

All rehearsals will take place in the auditorium. Please be on time

General announcements

  • Spring supplements are in! Starting Wednesday, please visit Mr. Samaha in room D467 anytime for your spring supplement. Please have your school ID ready. 
  • Applications for BOG Executive Council are available in all level offices. All who are interested in holding a leadership role and prepared to make a commitment are encouraged to apply.
  • The last day for the late bus and the after school tutoring center will be tomorrow, June 14.
  • Students who have medicine in the Nurse’s office are reminded to pick it up before the end of the school year.
  • Students taking AP classes next year:  Summer work is posted outside the main office and all of the level offices. Check back regularly for updates and meeting days and times.
  • There will be a meeting for new girls interested in joining the girls swim team next fall tomorrow, June 14, after school in the health rooms.
  • Yearbooks are still available for sale in the main office for $90 cash. Mrs. Jakobson for your copy.
  • Attention all Girls Spring Sports, your lockers in the team room must be cleaned out by tomorrow, June 14.  Please sign them out with Ms Halas in the girls locker room.
  • There will be a mandatory girl’s soccer meeting immediately after school tomorrow in room E295 for anyone interested in trying out this fall.

Sports update

  • Come watch Hatters Football at the Blue-White Spring Scrimmage at 2:45 p.m. today, June 12, at the stadium.
  • The Danbury boys dominated the relays at the New England High School Outdoor Championship over the weekend in Norwell, Mass. The Hatters’ 4×800 relay team of Daniel Campbell, Chris Leone, Malcolm Going and Terrell Cunningham won gold and ran the No. 2 time (7.46: 97) in school history.  The 4×100 relay team of Chris Cledera, Sean Michael Parkinson, Aaron Agosto, and Edmond Olivacce were 6th place (43.05) earning All-New England Status.  The final relay team — the 4×400 — won with a meet-,  FCIAC-, and DHS-school record time of 3:17.88. The team comprised Sean Michael Parkinson, Daniel Campbell, Malcolm Going and Terrell Cunningham.  Dan Nichols also qualified and participated in the 2-mile.
  • Congratulations to the Girls’ Track and Field team. The 4×100 relay team of Erika Regus, Jessica Glowaski, Davonna Spruill, and Zyniah Bunn placed 4th at the New Englands with a time of 48.49. Bridget Chiaravalle also placed third in the 100 hurdles.
