The Wrestling Team won the 2016 FCIAC Wrestling Team Championship with 277 points. Trumbull came in second with 195. Warde and Ludlowe finished third and fourth, respectively. Go to the HAN Network to watch the title matches, free and streaming HD.
Friday —
What a night for Danbury sports. The Boys’ Basketball team defeated Greenwich by 1-point — 58-57 — in the last seconds with a layup from Messiah Crandell. The team is 14-2 overall and 11-1 in the FCIAC. Meanwhile, the No. 1-ranked Wrestling team leads the FCIAC Tournament, thanks to a 111-79 advantage over Fairfield Warde. Thursday —
The Danbury Girls’ Track & Field team, on the heels of taking the FCIAC title last week, won the Class LL state championship Thursday night. The girls were paced by victories in the 4×200 relay, sprint medley relay 4×400 relay, Leah Sarkisian in the 600, as well as strong performances from the entire team. The team tallied 78 points, with Ridgefield coming in second with 56 points.
The Boys’ Track & Field team also won, claiming its third straight state title. The team tallied 96 points and its closest competitor was McMahon, which scored 58.
