High School Football is back, and the Danbury Hatters have something to prove. Throughout the off-season, the Hatters have continued their focus on workouts and the development of values, while maintaining their target of “The Hatter Way” mindset.
Although mindset is essential for success, the Hatters have also reshaped the formula for their roster. Players are chosen based on their talent, leadership and willingness to do whatever it takes. I spoke with Head Football Coach Augie Tieri, and he said the following: “This team has some of the best leadership I’ve had since I’ve been here. I believe the best teams are player-driven, player-led, and we will be successful because of this.”
To date, the Hatters have played two games. A win on Hatter Hill against Glastonbury High School and a tough loss on the road against Trumbull High School. The Hatters look at some challenging matchups over the next few weeks. Danbury travels to East Hartford this Friday to play against the 1-2 East Hartford Hornets.
