District gives Trasacco the nod as football coach

The 2015-2016 squad, which was directed by interim head coach Alex Trasacco. The district announced today that Trasacco got the permanent job.

Alex Trasacco has been named head football coach at Danbury High School after serving as the interim head coach during the 2015 season, according to a press release from the school’s Athletics Department.

Trasacco brings a record of success as a college and high school football, track and lacrosse coach. As a football coach he has worked under former NFL Head Coach Kevin Gilbride and two noted college coaches Paul Pasqualoni and George Deleone during different stages of his coaching career.

In addition to coaching at Danbury the past two years, Trasacco has coached at Hillhouse, Hyde, East Haven and Wilbur Cross high schools as well as at Western Connecticut State University and Southern Connecticut State University during the course of his career.

Trasacco was also a member of two state championship football teams when working on the staffs at Hyde and Wilbur Cross.

Athletic Director Chip Salvestrini commented; “I believe Alex is a high caliber football coach with a wealth of experience who is very capable of getting the Danbury High School football program on track and in a position to compete at a high level. We are fortunate to have him in Danbury and look forward to his leadership of our football program”.

Trasacco is a member of the Danbury High School faculty, teaching Architectural Design and Construction Systems. He is a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University with a bachelor’s  in Economics.
