Our imagination flows, and we create images of textures, feelings, and designs.
When social, cultural, economic, and technological shifts happen new trends are created. Society finds new things to fan over and it becomes the “It thing” influenced by celebrities and influencers until it eventually dies out…Let’s talk about stylish jeans for 2024-2025.
The question always is will it come back into style 20 years from now.
For years, younger generations have found ways to bring old styles back. New movies, songs, and photos are found, and suddenly, there’s a shift in the vibe and aesthetic they want to give off.
Hopping on the trend fills a sense of being a part of something, being cool, and making us ultimately happy or confident.
Which trends have returned many times, making us feel the most confident, like platform shoes, corduroy, cargo pants, mullets, etc.
Fashion is always changing, in and out depending on who is creating it and who wore it best.
People like Paris Hilton, Britney Spear, Christina Aguilera, Linsey Lohan, the Olsen Twins, etc. inspired a certain era just as Sofia Riche, Bella Hadid, and Emma Chamberlain, but also many influencers like brookieyancey and 1aylablue who have been influencing 2024 fashion.
The similarities between these fashions is the certain staple pieces that are being brought back. Types of jeans, shoes, shirts, sizes, colors, versions, and aesthetics all play a part in whether society will fan girl over it.
Jeans get bigger, smaller, higher, and lower. Britney Spears with the low-rise and Emma Chamberlain with the high-rise intentionally fitting into the norm at that time. Recently, low-rise jeans have been a fan favorite, catering to a certain body type in the early 2000s but now it’s for all body types and is known to accentuate the beauty in all women. Giving them their own sense of fashion and culture without letting the changing norms control them.
But for some, the bigger and baggier jeans showcased in the 90s fit more of their style. Styled with a crop top, a sweater, a big hoodie, a vintage jacket, and big sneakers.
Comparing students from Danbury High School and students from the Historical Black College, Howard University, you can see a difference between a slightly older Gen Z and a younger Gen Z implementing both low-rise and baggy jeans with their own personal styles adding a uniqueness, making it their own. Things like jewelry, scarves, hats, shoes, jackets, makeup, belts, and all types of accessories make it their own.
We can see a slight difference in fashion in different places where different cultures have a higher population. In Danbury High School, Brianna Cruz, a junior touches on her favorite type of jeans, “Low-rise jeans are cute because they sit comfortably on the hips and make your legs look longer, as a short girl. I love that we’ve brought them back from the early 2000s it’s very retro and fun.” Also proving they’re for any body type and enhance everyone’s beauty.
There’s a weird fascination with older fashion, where some made fun of it, and now it’s “the best thing to be discovered.”
Nobody can really win, but we can always look cute so does it really matter, at least Gen Z doesn’t think so.
