Jennie’s “Ruby Experience” wasn’t just a concert; it was a living, breathing work of art with vulnerability and strokes of professional talent. Jennie had recently kicked off her concert, notoriously known as the “Ruby Experience,” for the first time solo without her K-pop group Blackpink accompanying her. Her tracklist included many of the recent releases of her highly anticipated first solo album after signing a solo contract with her company YG, with her album released on March 7, 2025.

After all of the Blackpink members had dropped their solo albums, Jennie was the last of the group to drop her album, and she was the first out of all of them to start her tour off in Los Angeles, CA. Jennie is known for her insane stage presence; however, she has been more recently known for her less energetic dancing due to an ankle injury. In Dua Lipa’s podcast, Jennie was the guest addressing this issue where she states she “fell again, like [she] tripped over again.” She added how she “realized that even though [she] had the training days, that was more about [how she needs]  to be good at dancing.” This caused many to question if the “Ruby Experience” was worth the cost. The tour had already begun, taking place so far in Los Angeles, New York, South Korea and recently France. This is the feedback of one of the audience members who got to experience her tour live, namely Jessica Albeit who expressed that “Jennie nailed the concert. Whoever called her dancing lazy was wrong. She gave full energy, and many clips on the internet show that Jennie is the it girl. She proved the haters wrong.”Jennie successfully countered the prior criticisms, delivering a performance that was widely praised for its energy and stage presence. With many clips going viral on the internet of the crowd hyping Jennie for her flawless performance, it’s evident that the “Ruby Experience” marks a triumphant moment for the artist, setting a new standard for her solo career and silencing any lingering doubts about her stage presence.

While there were many positive viral posts on Jennie’s tour regarding her stage presence and her execution of the songs vocally,there was some backlash on the choice of clothing Jennie had appeared in on her tour in Los Angeles on March 6th and 7th. On these shows,  she was wearing a white sheer jumpsuit with a deep neckline. This drew significant attention from critics, especially Korean netizens known for their modesty. According to The Korea Herald, “Critics found the outfit too provocative, arguing that it clashed with the

traditional image of K-pop idols.”  This stirred many varying reactions regarding Jennie’s bold look, as even though she is known for her boldness, many fans think this is too far. However, many of Jennie’s global fans praised her bold look; for example, Albeit,  who thinks “Jennie’s bold look is there to represent female empowerment and body positivity, and this is also her way to show artistic expression.”Jennie’s type of clothing is a way to represent women and her artistic side; however, soon after Jennie changed her outfit to a different one, the reason behind this is not clear. It could be due to the criticism, or it could also be due to going to a different city while on tour, as many artists change their outfits on tour for different cities. Regardless of the reason, the “Ruby Experience” ultimately showcased Jennie’s ability to command the stage, both through her musical talent and her willingness to push boundaries. The tour, despite the brief clothing controversy, solidified her solo artistry and left a lasting impression on fans, proving the “Ruby Experience” was a resounding success.

Following Jennie’s “Ruby Experience”, the focus naturally shifts to the other members of Blackpink and their solo careers as of now. While other members have established their artistic identity and solo success in music releases, such as Rose hitting 1B streams on both Spotify and YouTube on her song APT and becoming a viral sensation globally, their approaches to tours have varied. Jisoo with her solo album Lights, Love, Action!  tour showcased her vocal prowess, her emergent stage presence, and her amazing visuals as the main visual of Blackpink all across Asia. While there are no articles out on her performance, the #JisooLightsLoveAction and #[City]ForJisoo hashtags trended globally, showcasing the widespread impact of her tour. Whilst Jisoo and Jennie have achieved success on their solo tours, Rose and Lisa, on the other hand, were focusing more on individual performances and have a solo album that demonstrated their ability to command the stage and engage with audiences. A Blink (member of the Blackpink fanbase), Thomas Reddering had stated that, “Lisa knows how to own the stage like a true idol, even during Coachella she carried the group with her stage presence, making it known she’s the main dancer of the group.”This further illustrates the varied, yet equally successful, approaches each member takes to their solo careers, showcasing their strengths and confirming Blackpink’s lasting impact on the music industry.
