Peer Leadership is a class at Danbury High School that entails a group of seniors split into two different classes. Each upcoming senior applies with the intention of helping guide and support our school and town communities. Organizing fundraisers and flex activities for students, this group strives to bring all students together and lead the school to be the best it can be. As seniors, lots of underclassmen look up to these students for guidance and maturity, so having this specific group in peer leadership helps the school in bettering the education community.

The most recent fundraiser was a car wash on April 24th, from 3-6 pm, at the Danbury High School parking lot, to raise funds for their Color Run. Car washes were $5, and there was also a raffle for two $25 Bagel Man gift cards. On top of that, there was a bake sale of mostly snacks and drinks with their own prices for each customers’ wait. The money from this activity supported peer leaders’ upcoming fundraiser, the Color Run, which takes place every year and is run by the class.

The Color Run is taking place on May 31st, 2 pm, at Lake Kenosia Park, to support DHS’s UNICEF and protect underprivileged children. A color run is when you run and get colors thrown on you. Tickets are $20 for adults and teens and $15 for kids 8 and under, while also offering t-shirts.
There are many more fundraisers that this class offers every year, which are primarily run by the students. Peer leaders demonstrate their maturity levels, empathy, and true care for our community by not only supporting the school, but also supporting others in and out of the community in need, portraying the meaning of Peer Leadership and what DHS produces in their students’ education.
