Each year, the Board of Governors (BOG), a group of senior class officers, plans a Spirit Week to encourage school spirit with themed dress-up days. Whether it’s in the fall, winter, or spring, these events give students a fun way to participate and connect with their school community.
They have finally made the Spring spirit week for 2025, the last spirit week for Danbury High School’s 2025 senior class. Specifically, it falls on the week of prom, May 19th to May 22nd.

The week kicked off with Soccer Moms vs. BBQ Dads, where plenty of students embraced the playful theme by wearing jorts, oversized button-ups, activewear, like sunglasses and backwards caps. On Tacky Tourist Tuesday, despite a half-day of school, students made the best of it by wearing Mickey Mouse ears, Hawaiian leis, jorts, and sandals, embracing the tourist spirit.
Wednesday’s Bloom Day invited students to wear florals and pastels to celebrate spring. However, participation was sparse; the chilly, windy weather and a lack of promotion may have contributed. Many hallways remained filled with students in regular clothes rather than seasonal blooms.
On Thursday, USA Day wrapped up Spirit Week, as students wore red, white, and blue in honor of Memorial Day weekend. Some also wore camo in recognition of veterans and active service members.
However, overall participation in this year’s Spring Spirit Week appeared low. Junior Brianna Cruz states she feels the spirit week wasn’t posted enough on social media. Indeed, the official announcement was posted to the @dhsbog Instagram page on May 9th, just after AP exams, and Monday announcements didn’t seem to generate much excitement. Whether it was the busy prom preparations, the dreary weather, or simply the end-of-year exhaustion, enthusiasm for Spirit Week lagged compared to past events.
Still, seniors wrapped up the week with a well-deserved break on Friday, May 23rd, and the highlight of the season: senior prom, with a glamorous Masquerade theme. Underclassmen now look ahead, ready to continue the Spirit Week tradition next year and carry on the school’s legacy of participation and pride.
