Danbury High School 43 Clapboard Ridge Road Danbury, CT 06811 (203) 797-4800

Linda Mitten

Job title:  I have taught in the Career and Technial Education Dept.(CTE) I teach Child Development/Little Hatters Nursery School and Early Childhood Workshop.

Years of service:  I have taught at DHS for 16 years, but peviously taught high school in Peekskill NY for ten years in the 70’s and the 80’s

What will you miss most about DHS, and why: Definitely the students.  I love the relationships I have formed with so many students from all over the world.  My understanding of the world, different cultures, religions and customs has made my life so much more interesting and enriched.

Advice to your replacement:  Give yourself time to adjust.  The size of this school, getting to know the people, the building, the procedures etc. can be overwheming for someone new.  As Mr. Rogers would advise children, “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”

Favorite DHS memory:

1.  Little Hatters Nursery School memories too numerous to mention

2.  Mr. DHS 2010!

3. Flash Mob dancing to Bon Jovi’s Living on a Prayer in Mrs. Tong’s room, day before Christmas vacation, 2012

Retirement plans: Playing with my grandchildren, Taylor and Hudson, on the beach in Bethany, Delaware, travel with my husband, more time for geneology research, more time for volunteer work

Any other thoughts: Leaving DHS is definitely bittersweet. DHS is a big part of my identity.  My connections to the community through Little Hatters Nursery School have enriched my life tremendously.  I feel blessed to have had so many wonderful high school students as well as so many precious preschoolers over the last sixteen years.
