The Danbury Hatters came out victorious on their homecoming game this past Friday (10/21) rolling over the Westhill Vikings by a whopping score of 56-19, helping the Hatters improve their record to 4-2.

For the Hatters, it was an excellent day for Junior receiver and defensive back Jayden Leroy, who hauled in 2 TDs, one of which an incredible over-the-shoulder reception. The rising star also pulled in one INT as well on the defensive side of the ball.

Senior linebacker Chris Luna also had a day on the defensive side, recovering a fumble at the 1-yard line and returning it for a 99-yard scoop and score. Chris Luna and Jayden Leroy both were key in limiting the Vikings to only 19 points, and tacking on their own while doing it.

Despite the Hatter’s seizing victory, they still have a tough schedule pushing towards the end of the regular season. They still have to face the always-challenging Warde, Greenwich, Trumbull, and lastly Ridgefield before the start of the playoffs.

The Hatters are currently ranked 8th with a 4-2 record in the Connecticut Division LL standings. If the Hatters can keep up with the stellar defense they have been playing these last 6 weeks, it’s safe to say the Hatters could shoot for a long run in the FCIAC playoffs and quite possibly the state.
