School will continue to promote safe driving practices

DHS has been among the “Celebrate My Drive” winners twice in the three years, but this year’s efforts fell short.

Participating schools this time around had to produce a video on safety while driving. Winners in the video competition then moved to the next round of the State Farm-run contest.

The DHS video didn’t make the cut.

Carmela Calafiore, business teacher and DECA advisor, said the school will continue to advocate safe driving practices throughout the school year.

After hearing that DHS wouldn’t advance in the competition, Calafiore had this to say: “I was disappointed, but I feel that we have benefitted so much and we will continue to spread the message of safe driving.

“It’s not about the competition,” she added, “it’s about how many lives we can save.”Contributed photos
