As the years go by, it seems that every childhood animated movie is being adapted into its live-action version. However, the question always remains the same after the release: Which was better, animation or live-action? Critics and moviegoers often have a lot to say when a live-action remake is announced, usually covering topics such as casting, CGI, and keeping the original plot the same. For example, when the cast of the live-action version of The Little Mermaid was released. Millions of opinionated people on the internet had a lot to say about the race of the main character, Ariel. Another example of animation vs. live-action is The Lion King. People were quick the comment on the “bad” CGI throughout the movie. More recently, the live-action Snow White movie was released, and many people were frustrated that the directors did not follow the original storyline of the classic Disney princess. Ultimately, with all the controversy between live-action and animated movies, will the new upcoming live-action How to Train Your Dragon movie survive the standard set by its beloved animated version?
Mason Thames, who plays the main character in the film Hiccup, said that he has been a fan of the How to Train Your Dragon trilogy for a long time. He knows how many people love the movies and has worked very hard to hopefully not let anyone down.
The movie is set to hit theaters on June 13th.
To help promote and celebrate the movie’s release, the fast food restaurant Burger King has come out with exclusive menu items related to the movie. The menu consists of Fiery Dragon Mozzarella Fries, Soaring Strawberry Lemonade, Viking’s Chocolate Sundae, and a Dragon Flame-Grilled Whopper that includes a special orange and red colored bun.
With all of this publicity and buzz surrounding the movie, everyone is eager to see if it follows in the footsteps of its original or steers off in a different direction. I suppose we’ll have to wait and see until June 13th. See you then!
