Game on! This Saturday, January 28th, is the honorable memorial basketball game for Robert Dinardo who unfortunately passed away in 2009 due to Cancer. Robert Dinardo Sr. was a familiar face in the Danbury community, especially in schools. He served as the community police officer at Broadview Middle School where a banner hangs to honor him and his famous quote: “Doing the right thing isn’t always easy, but it’s always right”. In addition to being a 29 year veteran at the Danbury Police Department, he coached many youth sport programs. In regards to the basketball game being a memorial for him, he was an assistant coach for the Lady Hatters Basketball team with his wife for 22 years. He was described by past team members as a loveable person who was always there for you. He was an active mentor and coach who wanted the best for everyone. To play for something bigger than basketball, the Hatters are playing for cancer research. Come show your support and attend the basketball game at the WCSU O’Neill Center at 3:00 p.m.
