The Danbury Hatters look to take on the Trumbull Eagles in the first round of the FCIAC playoffs today (5/19) at Danbury High School. The Hatters, who maintain the number four seed, are looking for a win behind senior pitcher Jacob Distcher, who will get the ball today. The ace posts a 4-1 record and maintains a 1.71 ERA. He is notified as one of the top pitchers in the FCIAC & the CIAC as well; he is a qualifier for the All-FCIAC team at the rate he is performing

The Hatters, who have had a great season so far, did lose to the Ridgefield Tigers this past week, 10-6, dropping them from the number one seed. The Tigers will now face the Staples Wreckers, so it is argued that the Tigers’ win was a poor decision.

The bats will have to come alive for the Hatters to win today. Infielder/outfielder Luke Ciccone leads the team in home runs, and left-fielder Matt Wallin leads the team in batting average. If both star players can collect a couple of hits today, the Hatters will be in good shape.

Support the boys today at 4:00 p.m.; if all goes well, the Hatters will advance to round 2 this coming Monday.
