DHS starts female empowerment club

DHS+starts+female+empowerment+club

Living in a society where women are continuously degraded is exhausting. Women deserve the freedom to express their thoughts and beliefs. As a school, we need to create a community of women who encourage, support, and inspire one another. This is why Danbury High School offers a wide variety of influential clubs, among them being the Female Empowerment Club. This club is relatively new and is only getting started, but it plans to have a significant influence on the students in our school.

The Female Empowerment Club is led by Emily Samaniego. She is a senior at DHS who hopes to make a difference in the community. She encourages fellow students to join her club as “their mission is to discuss gender inequality issues through presentations” Hopefully, with the help of more people joining, these presentations will help educate the public and change the way society sees women. Although they are starting small, she plans to “partner with citizens to create impactful projects that will focus on activities for females.” As of this point, they “have donated canned goods to the center of Empowerment of Education as well as done activities that help women and men gain a better understanding of womanhood.” These small projects have meant so much to many of the students in our school which is why this club was immensely needed. As this club continues to grow, the hope is that people will understand the club’s importance and purpose within the community.
