The End of the Semester Is Here: These Are the Best and Worst Places to Cry

The+End+of+the+Semester+Is+Here%3A+These+Are+the+Best+and+Worst+Places+to+Cry

The end of the semester means stress, emotions, and deadlines. Every student at DHS has felt overwhelmed by that last week in January at some point in their four years. Sometimes it could be a little much, and need to let it all out. Here are the best and worst places to cry in the school.

TOP 3 BEST

#1: Black Box Bathroom

The Black Box Bathroom is known as one of the most exclusive and nicest bathrooms at DHS. To get access to such a well-maintained bathroom, you will need to have a teacher with a key open it. Of course, if someone is crying, the teacher would be cruel to not open it. This makes it perfect for crying, as there is complete privacy from other students and a clean environment to wipe away tears. A downside to this bathroom is that it is very far from other classes, meaning that one will most likely be late to class. Either way, this is undoubtedly the best spot at DHS to cry in privacy.

#2: G1 Basement

At the very corner of the school sits G1, everyone’s least favorite floor, as it always makes students late. While horrible for class, this is the perfect environment for alone time. The trophy room is usually quiet and relaxed. One might find other students skipping, but the safety advocates are usually quick to clear out the area, though it would be cruel to kick out someone who is crying. Why cry somewhere else when one could cry right next to our abundance of sports trophies? The best part is that there are two vending machines that are usually fully stocked. G1 takes that number two spot as the vending machine lifts the spirits.

#3: The Courtyard (OFF LUNCH HOURS)

Sometimes a breath of fresh air helps calm the nerves. Being surrounded by nature and the muted chaos of the school can help. Obviously, this would be considered one of the worst if it were during third block, as it is always packed, but during the others, it is okay to relax outside as long as your teacher is okay with it. Along with the courtyard, the lunch room has vending machines available, so one can wallow in their sorrows with a bag of Cheez-Its. The courtyard is perfect for when the halls are too crowded or the school is too hot.

TOP 3 WORST

#1: D3 Bathroom

The D3 bathrooms are the hotspot for big crowds and suspicious smells. D3 contains the most safety advocates and people walking through the halls. Being connected to the hallways leading towards the front does not help either, as it creates even more foot traffic. If one were to start crying in a D3 stall, be sure to be heard by nine different students, three of whom are probably recording what is going on. D3 is getting the last spot for its rowdy reputation and immense traffic.

#2: The Library

This one seems a bit obvious. The library has limited space to cover up, as most of the tables are visible from every angle. One is also bound to see familiar faces as the library is at capacity every block. If there were one piece of advice, it would be to grab a big textbook and start ‘studying’ it, as opposed to revealing tears to the rest of the library. Not to mention that sobs will be heard throughout the room as it stays quiet.

#3: The Parking Lots

This entry is specifically right after dismissal. The two students’ parking lots are a nightmare when the bell rings as everyone is scurrying to get home. Someone getting in their car will receive weird stares and looks as they walk past the front of their car. Not only that, but it is very noisy. The combination of engines, music, and honking all result in an overwhelming experience that will only make the crying experience worse. The parking lots get the last spot on the list for their loud and overwhelming nature.

As the new semester begins, so does a new start. It is time to forget about the past and focus on what lies ahead. Of course, if it gets to the point where nothing is working out and eyes start to sweat, it is recommended to use one of the three best spots on DHS grounds and avoid the others.
