Women are getting punched in the face in New York City and no one knows why.

Several women have come forward, releasing TikTok videos in which they describe being randomly assaulted as they walk down the street, stoking concern about crime in the city.

This insane epidemic first came to light when Tiktoker Halley Kate posted a now-viral video in which she said: “She had been punched in the face while walking down the street.” “I was just walking and a man came up to me and punched me in the face. Oh my god, it hurts so bad, I can’t even talk,” Kate said.

Kate further explains the situation as she states she had been looking down at her phone when a man walking their dog either elbowed or punched her in the face, causing her to hit her head on the sidewalk. It is evident in the video that she suffered several injuries, which required her to go to urgent care and later she reported the incident to the police.

The NYPD, which does not reveal the identities of victims, confirmed to Business Insider that they did receive a report of assault from a 23-year-old female who had been hit on the head.

They said that they have identified a 40-year-old man as Skiboky Stora, who has since been charged on March 27th, and the investigation remains ongoing.

If crime in the city continues to incline, then incidents like this will grow, and more people will become afraid to leave their homes.
