The truth behind Danbury High school bathrooms
At Danbury High School, depending on where you are, some bathrooms can be very clean, new and nice, others, the exact opposite; dirty, rusty, and torn apart.
The Janitors, administration, safeties and more tries their best to keep the bathrooms clean and up to part. People in dhs have mixed feelings and opinions about the bathrooms in this school, all of the bathrooms in the school are different.
“The bathrooms are considered city property and not up to the school”, Keisha Stclair explained.
On the first day of school the bathrooms looked the same, nothing changed but unfortunately in D3 some of the students were disgusted with what they saw,in the D3 girls bathroom the skins were flooded with nasty water. It was just so dirty and needed to be cleaned and fixed.
“The skins in the D3 bathroom had some serious plumbing problems”, “the head custodian was on the phone last week trying to get someone from the city to fix the problem”, Camille Genovese explained.
Mrs. Genovese spoke very highly of the head custodian at dhs. She said how much effort he puts into the bathrooms and appreciates him for his help. He looks like he is hardworking and gets the job done.
“The head custodian works really hard”, “he tries to keep everything clean and neat,” Camille Genovese explained.
Certain times the bathrooms have an unpleasant smell, keeping students from being able to use the bathroom, and forcing them to find another bathroom.
“The smell of the bathroom is disgusting”, Rickera Richards explained.
Another issue that is faced when in the bathrooms, is the lack of paper towels, or no paper towels at all. What are students supposed to dry their hands with?
“I wish they would put paper towels in the bathroom for students”, Stclair said.
There’s many bathrooms in Danbury High School, but the main one facing problems is D3. Lots of students are in D3 bathrooms, as it is where everybody meets up.
Many students are in the bathrooms and it gets really crowded. You could barely move around, people just standing there, sometimes even pushing and shoving, with some waiting to use the bathroom.
“I feel like I am in a maze when it’s crowded”, Richards explained.
“When I see the bathroom is crowded I get anxious, overwhelmed, and amazed how many people there are”, Genovese explained.
Some wonder why our bathrooms haven’t been fixed when we just built a new school. The old DHS has been here for years and still couldn’t fix the bathrooms. How could we build a new school but can’t fix the bathrooms.
“The school should have fixed the bathrooms during summer break, they fixed other problems in the school”, Richards explained.
Even though there are a lot of people, there has to be a certain number of people in there. You never know what could happen while there’s a lot of people in the bathroom and half of them aren’t even using it. Also there is only one way out and in.
“There’s a certain number of people because of safety issues”, Stclair said.
“If something was to happen it wouldn’t be good because everyone is in the bathroom and there is only one way out and in”, Stclair explained.
