Teaching isn’t always the easiest job you could go into, but most teachers who choose this profession love their jobs. There are plenty of struggles that come with teaching, but if you really love kids and really love teaching people, then this might be an amazing job for you.
Sometimes finding a good teacher is hard because teachers may have different teaching styles, or schools may face challenges in finding qualified staff. David Watson, a physics teacher at Danbury High School (DHS) says, “When I was a kid, it was really hard to find a good teacher. I didn’t really go to a good school, and a lot of teachers taught out of subject, so I struggled to find good teachers.”
Being a teacher has many struggles, but it also has its benefits. Some struggles include classroom management and ensuring students stay engaged. There can also be some benefits to teaching, such as being able to see students grow.
Derek Handberry, a Civics teacher at DHS, says, “The number one benefit from teaching is that it is a meaningful job. I try to build connections with my students and get to know the kids that might be overlooked.” Some teachers love teaching, and they all have their own favorite things about teaching their students. But every teacher here has one goal: to see their students be successful. Carla Pereira, history teacher at DHS, says, “The best part about teaching is seeing students grow in their knowledge, letting their minds expand beyond the classroom, and letting them see the outside world.”
In conclusion, all of our dedicated teachers in this school have a great impact on us all, and they all wish to see the best come out of us.
